Radiomics Guided Prediction of Multivessel Cardiac Disease in 3D Echocardiography

The overarching goal of the study is to quantify the sensitivity of multiple segmental wall motion abnormalities in echocardiography and robustly estimate its predictive value in finding multivessel disease in coronary angiography. 

The study hypothesizes that Multivessel disease (MVD) is associated with severe atherosclerosis of the epicardial coronary arteries. Significant narrowing of the coronary arteries supplying the myocardial region results in abnormal wall motion. Multiple segmental wall motion abnormalities (mSWMAs) measured with 3D echocardiography can be a significant radiomic signature for predicting multivessel disease. 

The hypothesis will be tested using the following: 

  • Automatic detection and quantification of mSWMAs in patients with documented multivessel disease with 3D echocardiography imaging.  
  • Learning a robust radiomic signature that can predict multivessel disease without complicated, invasive coronary angiography. 
  • Stability analysis of the radiomic signature for accurate outcome prediction in novel datasets.
