We had an unprecedented response to our call for proposals, and 40% of the submissions were essential local research on COVID response and COVID anti-bodies kits.
The Review Committee has finalised the following studies for this year’s award after an exhaustive review and discussion process among a multi-disciplinary panel of experts:
- “Deployment of Health Level Seven International’s (HL7) Fast Health Interoperability Resources Standard for the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) at Shalamar Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan” submitted by Dr. Safee Ullah Chaudary
- “Discovery of New Potential Therapeutics Against Coronavirus by Targeting Viral Cellular Entry and Replication” submitted by Dr. Syed Shahzad ul Hassan, LUMS SSE Department of Biology, co-investigating with Dr Mark Windisch, Institut Pasteur, South Korea
- “A Randomized Control Trial to Improve Nurse leadership in Maintaining Minimum Service Delivery Standards for Hospital Infection Control in the era of COVID-19” submitted by Dr. Sara Rizvi Jafree, FC College, co-investigating with Mrs. Nasim Tariq, Principal, Shalamar Nursing College
- “Development of an In-house Antibody Kit to Determine Anti-SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) IgG Antibodies by ELISA Technique: A proposal for local capacity building” submitted by Dr. Farkhanda Ghafoor, Director Research and Innovation, Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences, co-investigating with Dr. Shaper Mirza, SSE LUMS and Dr. Mariam Tarar, SIHS, and Dr. Sania Shuja, Head of Pathology, SIHS
